UPDATE - MATT & BETSY

For those of you who prayed for me while I was designing the discipleship materials - THANK YOU!   I have finished the largest part of it and now we can send it on to be reviewed by soe other ministry folk to see if they would like to add their specific content to it.   It took a lot longer than I had expected it to and I am glad that I have finally got it to the author.

Betsy has started a blog at: www.betsyguilford.wordpress.com.  She is very excited about it.  You can leave comments and thoughts with her easily by using your Facebook logon.

Part of my work (Matt) is as a live chat operator on our website www.everystudent.com.  It is one of the most fulfilling personal experiences I have.  I really enjoy sharing with people each day about how to have a personal relationship with Jesus.  If you get a moment stop by the site and see the articles we have posted.  Then share the site with others that might be helped by it.  To really be encouraged go to: www.greatcommission2020.com.  Below is a screenshot the site.

The key at the upper right hand shows:
  • Number of visits to the site in a 24 hour period (321,248)
  • Indicated decisions are (46,843)
  • Initial emails are (5,465)
  • Those being followed up are (17,430)

It is amazing to sit for a few minutes and watch this realtime screen show people from all over the world logging on to our websites seeking answers to life's most important questions.  Please include Global Media Outreach in your prayers.  God is really blessing the use of this technology.

Other than the "wow" factor you can get involved as an online missionary as well.  It is easy to get started.  You can create your own profile and choose how much ministry you would like to do.  Go here if you feel the Lord might have you share your faith with others in need around the world.

Dr. Joe Ferrini (author of the materials) and Matt Guilford - Pixel Pusher

TUESDAY, APRIL 17, 2012

I had thought I was very close to having our materials finished prior to arriving in Cleveland on Saturday. After one day of edits and explanations on Saturday and a little time organizing on Sunday - I started on the revisions at a little after 8 am and at 12:20 am I was still not finished.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Oh! Wait! That's my computer monitor! ...Never mind.

Thank you all for praying. We made a pretty big dent in the project and I hope to turn it over to the printer early Friday.

So, continue to pray with me - especially over any weird computer issues.

Building Disciple-Makers

EAT YOUR HEART OUT! Today I am off to the exotic lands of northeastern Ohio - Cleveland to be exact.  The home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, of which, I am informed by my host, I will not be visiting... a frown.

For the past four months I have been working with our City Director in Cleveland redesigning curriculum that he has used for the past 20 plus years to develop men into disciple makers (For the sake of clarity, the term discipler is synonymous with mentor - simply put someone who advises or trains another.).  During that time he met with me on the phone once a week for two-hour sessions to take me through this training as a student and a leader.

The goal of this training series is to address a need that exists between those who are following Christ and being discipled and those who are following Christ and have not been discipled.  Our ministry is focused on transformation of cities and we see this as being a missing piece of the puzzle in seeing those who profess Christ bearing spiritual fruit in their communities and the marketplace.

Please pray our work will be effective during our time together and that the Lord will continue to use this material to encourage and train the men to follow Christ more passionately.

If you are interested in knowing more about discipleship please let me know.

Thank you,

Matt Guilford
